PRESIDENTS’ SEPTEMBER MESSAGE

September is here!!  Fall is just around the corner.  Your Board has worked through the summer to make this the best year ever for the Newcomer Club.  We are off to an outstanding start.  Twenty-eight new members joined during the August orientation meeting.  Our newest class now has 48 members and is growing.  Please welcome our newest members and help them share Newcomer experiences to the fullest.

This year we are challenging the Activity Groups to become more involved in both general Club activities and the Community through volunteering as a group.  Southern Comfort was the first group to sponsor a general meeting.  Sixteen members of Southern Comfort welcomed the new members by providing setup support, greeters and refreshments for the August new member orientation. Thank you, Southern Comfort, for the hard work and contribution to the success of the Club.

In an effort to make sure that our working members have an opportunity to participate more fully, we have moved some of the morning activities.  Jane Skolnik, Social Chairperson,  has arranged for all three major social events to occur in the late afternoon or evening.   Kevin and Gloria Minton, Co-VPs of Programs, have scheduled one of our most popular programs, the Wahalla Civic Auditorium event, in evening.

We encourage you to become actively involved as the special interest groups kick off the new season.  What better way to meet new people, make new friends and enjoy all that the Upstate has to offer.
